Hard Work, Outstanding Performance and Success
Outstanding performance is an important key to career and life success. If you want to become an outstanding performer you need to do three things. First, stay on top of your game by becoming a lifelong learner. Second, set high goals. Do whatever it takes to achieve them. Third, get organized. Manage your time, life and stress well.
And, it should go without saying, you need to work hard. I subscribe to the Just Sell sales quotes. Yesterday, I found this quote from Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point, Blink and Outliers in my in box.
"The people at the very top don't work just harder or even much harder than everyone else. They work much, much harder."
This is true - and something a lot of less than successful people really don't want to hear.
The law of attraction...
1. Know exactly what you want.
2. Ask the universe for it.
3. Feel, behave and know as if the object of your desire is already yours (visualize).
4. Be open to receive it and let go of (the attachment to) the outcome.
...is great as far as it goes. However, I have found that while visualization is important in creating a successful life and career, "behave" is an overlooked word in point 3. Hard work is the key behavior in becoming an outstanding performer and personal and professional success.
I have a quote by Paul J. Meyer hanging next to the door in my office. I read it every time I enter or leave my office.
"Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon... must inevitably come to pass!"
I focus on the words "enthusiastically act upon." To my way of thinking, these three words are synonymous with hard work -- a key behavior in creating a successful life and career. Hard work is the behavior that is often overlooked when it comes to applying the law of attraction. If you think you can succeed merely by knowing what you want, asking the universe for it and visualizing yourself having it, I think you're in for an unpleasant surprise.
As Malcolm Gladwell says, successful people work much, much harder than others.
Hard work is more than long hours. Sure, sometimes it's necessary to work evenings and weekends. However, it's just as important to maximize the value of the time you spend at work. Figure out your high brain times and do the most intense work then. I'm best in the early morning - 6:00 till 11:00 and the late afternoon and early evening 2:30 till 7:30 or 8:00. I do my writing and thinking then. I use the mid day hours for exercise, errands and low brain activities. When are your peak performance times? If you haven't already done so, take a few minutes to determine them and do your best to schedule your most intense work then.
Set up systems for managing your work load. Once you have systems in place, continuously improve them. Make them better and more efficient so you can get more work done is less time. In this way, you'll be maximizing the value of your hard work.
The common sense point here is simple. Successful people are outstanding performers. As Malcolm Gladwell points out, outstanding performers are hard workers. They know what they want and do whatever it takes to get it. They enthusiastically act on their dreams. This action helps them reach their goals. There is no way around hard work. You have to put in the time and effort if you want to be successful. Ask any "overnight success." Everyone that I've ever met tells me that they spent years and years getting to the place where they became an "overnight success." Set your goals. Work hard. Work smart. And you'll succeed.
Hard Work Always Pays Off
"Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise." - 15th Century quote, author, unknown
At least, that was the theory. I suppose it carried forward to the pre-industrial era where, as an agrarian society, one had to plant, cultivate, and harvest to survive. Early rising as the cock crowed, was the picture painted by many writers. Back then, one worked in the fields until sundown, only to repeat the process the following day. Except for the Sabbath, one could continue to work in this manner from the time one was able. That meant the relatively young and elderly, as well. As we transformed with the Industrial Revolution, machinery like the combine, began to take over the manual labor and allow us to concentrate on more productive ventures. We could manipulate the environment and natural resources to aid us in our quest for self-sufficiency.
Today, the hard work ethic, is still propagated by many. "The early bird catches the worm," also comes to mind. So you get a jump on the business day, sell the products or services, run the store, or bag those groceries. You put in the hard work and time and reap the rewards. It makes complete sense. Or does it? What if I told you that I know a person who makes $300 a month by doing absolutely nothing? I lied, because he also makes $4000 a month. Let me explain.
He received $100,000 in a business deal, stuck it in a bank CD (certificate of deposit) and gets guaranteed 3.5% annual interest, or $300 a month return. He also got a pension buyout of $800,000 and gets 6% from an investment account. That's another $4000 a month. Yet he barely breaks a sweat, except when he's exercising. He allows his money to work for him, thus avoiding the usual employment pains.
Okay, so maybe you don't have a fat bank account. So what can you do? The point is, that the days of having to put in long hours to achieve success are behind us. There are alternatives to explore.
One innovative idea is to turn a part-time hobby into a business. Using the Internet such as Ebay is the obvious choice. Selling collectibles may be a possibility. Or start a service business where a large investment is unnecessary. Allowing others to work for you on your way to becoming an entrepreneur, makes perfect sense, if you're willing to try something new. A home-based Internet business can be started for mere dollars a month. Reconsider what you are worth recognizing that an hourly wage is usually the lowest form of payment. Think how you could be paid as a consultant or adviser. What skills or expertise do you possess that people might pay for? In most cases, your mind is worth more than your labor. Speak to other family members about how they could contribute to a family-run operation. Begin to network and spread the word about your desire to break out of the employee rut. You'll be amazed regarding the possibilities, once your intentions are known.
I'm not saying to quit your present job. I'm asking you to consider a separate venture that could become a permanent replacement when the income is large enough. It's like building a small cottage next to the current home while you continue there and, when it's big enough, move over to the new and improved house.
Down the road, as you are able to stash away extra income, think about my friend and how he generates revenue by using investments. When and if, you are capable of doing that, you're on your way to a life of easy money without all the hard work.
Relationships Are Hard Work
When we have been on our own for some time it can be difficult to entertain the notion of having a special someone entering our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, we will have developed our own comfortable routines, a circle of friends, various interests, all pleasant ways of filling our time. This is an invaluable way of adapting to our situation but it can also become an insular way to live. The reality check can occur if there is the potential for a new, happy, successful relationship on the horizon.
Learning to trust another person emotionally is a big step, especially if there has been hurt in the past, or a long time has elapsed since a relationship. That, and letting another person into our personal space can require considerable physical and mental adjustment. Trusting someone enough to relax and allow them to know how we are feeling, rather than just being polite and self protective entails giving the other person information that they can use however they choose. That is a vulnerable position to be in as it requires us to relax and let go of all those carefully built reserves and safeguards.
Appreciating that a new relationship can only progress by building stepping stones of honest and open communication in which both people have to participate, is an important acknowledgement. Frank and open sharing has to occur as a first step in getting to know each other. Admitting how we are feeling about the other persons actions, behaviour, words and why we feel that way, is a good way of learning about ourselves. 'Owning' or appreciating that these are our own reactions based on our past experiences, and then understanding the reasons behind those reactions can be really useful in freeing us from our old baggage. It has a huge therapeutic value.
Some people find counselling and hypnotherapy especially helpful at a time like this. When a relationship has gone bad many people form negative patterns of behaviour as a way of protecting themselves, understandably, from future hurt and disappointments. They may well become over sensitive to the slightest negative look, word, comment and shut off to retreat behind a protective wall at the least hint of rejection, taking it all as a personal attack. Using professional help to heal the old associations about relationships, the negative experiences that have been lived through, can allow a person become more confident, assertive and comfortable about expressing their viewpoints and opinions and enjoy building a new life in every way. It allows a person to start again in the truest sense of the word.
Embarking on a new relationship does not mean abandoning the old single life for good. Many people have a successful emotional relationship with a good partner whilst still enjoying the friends, hobbies and interests that they have built up over time. Some of these things may still be enjoyed on ones own. Other things may be brought into the relationship and shared together. There is scope for both options and having varied activities makes a person interesting, brings added value into the new relationship and is also a sensible safety net in case things do not work out well together in the long term.
The truth is all relationships, even with family and friends require input and nurturing. Sometimes one person may feel that they are doing all the giving, making all the effort, but often the balance is levelled out at a later stage when the other person has a need for extra support and understanding.
Relationships are about taking a chance on another person, but by being positive and open we give off a good level of energy in our daily communications and that in itself bodes well for building trust and optimism in all our different relationships and interactions. Starting a new relationship puts us in touch with our own feelings again, enables better communication and understanding and enables us to grow and develop as a human being. This can filter through into all our interactions with the different people we come into contact with in everyday life. Hard work maybe, but definitely valuable in many different ways.
Are You Attracting Success Or More Hard Work?
Law of Attraction is the power behind getting rich quickly. Your fears and your desires both vibrate a "feeling." You can't ignore the pull of gravity nor the pull of your "signal." Are you attracting success - or fear: Hard work, struggle and illness? Those are opposite "feelings" - you can only feel one at a time.
It is not a secret - look at your bank account, your health and relationships. Your success story can only come from within you when you overcome fear. Here's how it works.
"There are no secrets to success.
It is the result of preparation, hard work,
Learning from failure." Gen. Colin Powell
That's common advice, isn't it? What if it's 100% wrong? Struggle and working hard is a part of most people's success stories because they can't get off what isn't working quickly enough to realize that Inspiration and Opportunities would make it ever so much easier to get what they wanted.
Hard work vs. seeking solutions and Inspiration
What does "hard work" mean? How about working at something that is hard for you. Hard because it's new? Or hard because you feel anxious (fear) and don't like it? Isn't it something more like working at a job you don't like to get money to survive. Happiness is a factor, isn't it?
It's not hard work if it's getting you information and doing what you love, right? It might be time-consuming, and repetitive, like learning a new camera, but is that really hard work? Is following your Inspiration and Desire fun, or work? What you tell yourself will make it so for you. This can be easy, remember?
Hard work is a great way to develop Focus and build Desire. It also allows people time to prove their worth to themselves, and build the confidence to expect success. You could create a new habit and Bridge from your "fear" to your Dream - that does the same, and isn't that easier and more fun?
"Start by doing what's necessary,
then what's possible and suddenly
you are doing the impossible." St. Francis of Assisi
Success is fun, creative and joyful.
Few would admit that they laughed their way to success, enjoyed every minute, and can't wait to create more. Yet if you meet (or read autobiographies) of the super rich - that is usually the case. When they do refer to hard work, it's about the bad luck, failures, or going in the wrong direction. It is always their attitude and seeking their Vision that turned things around. Once they were back in the flow, serendipity played a huge role. (Isn't that Law of Attraction?)
Successful people achieve by Inspiration, action, then Opportunity and more action, and seldom follow a plan. Insight, psychic intuition and expectation (living within their Dream) was the vibration of success that Law of Attraction matched.
"Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion.
You must set yourself on fire." Arnold H. Glasow
The very rich put in the time it takes to reach their goal, and from the outside they look like workaholics. They followed what they loved and enjoyed the creation too much to take holidays, and most spent little time with family and they worked with their friends. They had all the money they could ever spend - yet they opted to continue-because they loved creating life. Many in later years did get involved in philanthropy - and they "worked as hard" at that as they did creating wealth.
Pay attention - this is BIG
Misguided information attracts a "vibration" match.
Most self-help programs will tell you to make a plan, work hard and push through your fears (just do it anyway) and then you MAKE your own success.
They simply do NOT know the Big Picture: You are energy, vibrating a signal and Law of Attraction responds to it. The joy of creativity and happy anticipation actually delivers successful experiences.
Most don't understand that fear attracts itself - including attracting real danger to you. Why not overcome fear and then create the life you Desire?
All illness is caused by stress - resisting (or fearing) what you want and desiring it at the same time. Conflict is the tension in your body.
Misinformation is based on mis-interpretation of the facts.
There's a lot of misguided but well-intentioned information and now that you know the facts, you can ignore what you can see clearly doesn't work. Most of the self-help programs want you to succeed - so how do they get so far off track?
Some are teaching from their experience - and they had a "breakthrough" and success, but that came from a matching vibration and not hard work - although the work probably allowed them to line-up energy vibrations and feel "hopeful."
Some look at other's success, and they make up what they think happened (after the fact and ignoring the process.) Those ideas come to them based on their prior beliefs and expectations and their own vibrations. Most are fearful and feel they have to fight life to win. That attracts similar ideas and examples so they "prove it."
Anything can be true, right? Find a match to your Dream.
Before you follow anyone's advice - check to see what their fear level or Set-point is. If they are talking hard work and fighting yourself...you can't win. They can only see and experience on their own level. If it's not where you want to end up, find what resonates with you when you are happy and feeling great. Only then will you get a match in information that you want to vibrate and attract into your life. As always, you choose - and then you get to live in it.
It's worth re-reading that!
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
It's also true that many successful people did work hard fighting the flow that would have taken them easily to what they wanted. Their "goal or plan" may not be the path - and sticking to it in spite of the flow of Inspiration IS hard work.
"As a general rule,
the most successful (wo)man in life
Is the (wo)man who has
the best information." Benjamin Disraeli
Anything can be true. Choose wisely.
The interesting question is: what do you want? Would you like easy, fun, feel better and better and happy? Do you want to align your ideas and models of life with Source and flow easily into Inspiration and Opportunity and create from Desire, love and appreciation? That's the best information!
That path is open to you. It's the feelings of "certainty and on-purpose" when you connect with your own Life Force. You choose by what you give your Attention to. You can ignore the fear, hard work and the action path and instead flow to the life you love ONLY if you choose that "Feeling-tone." It may take a little repetition - but isn't that worth it?
"There is no substitute for
incomprehensible good luck."
Lynn Alpern & Esther Blumenfeld
Create a new habit of feeling what you want to attract.
Experiment with changing habits and changing feelings. Your feelings follow your thoughts - and you can think what you choose. Seek the power of insight - find the "flowing feelings" that easily lead to your Desires. It's a "feel good" journey seeking Solutions and Joy and allowing Life to happen in magical ways unencumbered with the need to know the plan and control the flow.
It's not like you are giving anything up. In fact, you don't know "how" and you don't control much of anything except by controlling your vibration.
The creative process that yields success.
Guide your own life from your Focus and Inspiration and navigate Opportunity like you are navigating a river of abundance and Well-being. Then it doesn't matter what you choose for everything in the flow is leading you to your Vision.
"The way is not in the sky, the way is in the heart.
For the traveler who knows his direction,
there is always a favorable wind." Stuart Avery Gold
You can't loose. You are eternal. You can have anything you vibrate, you can seek and receive answers to anything that interests you. You are here for the fun of it.
Is that all there is to it?
That's it. The better it gets the better it gets. Every day is a play day. Eternal recess. What do you want? Where do you want to be? Doing what?
Flow with the current of your own Life Force and seek Power in living mindfully, in insights and Big Ideas. Repeat this process every day for 21 days, and the wisdom will be yours.
Quick Good Fortune for You: "The wise learn more from fools, than fools do from the wise."
How Much is Hard Work, and How Much is Luck?
When it comes to achievements, the question of how much is hard work and how much is luck inspires great debates. It has been my experience that it takes 90% hard work and 10% luck. If you asked most successful people they would tell you that it was hard work. Sure, some people seem to get a long ways on luck, but does it just appear on the outside as all luck?
You can't beat hard work, especially for long term achievement. Luck may get you some achievements but hard work will provide you with sustainability and growth, all necessary for achievement in any aspect of life.
The hard work required for achieving a goal has a lot to do with commitment and persistence. If you are committed 100% and you are truly dedicating your life to this goal and passionate about it, you've already made it. If you have doubts, and are not sure about your path and which directions to go, you have a bumpy road ahead. The work becomes harder and feels more like hard labor.
If you are persistent you've already won, as well. This means being persistent in the face of mistakes, rejection, and criticism. It also means that no matter how much people say you can't do it, or it will never work; you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on to the next steps.
It is important to learn from the experiences because every experience contains valuable lessons. Some lessons, believe me, you will not want to repeat in the future. So, make sure you think about what the lesson is and how you will apply it in future situations like that.
Persistence means going beyond the traditional definition. I had no idea how persistent I could be until I chose to be more committed. The commitment seemed to inspire the persistence. This re-energized the goal and got me moving forward. Suddenly I am taking bolder steps than I ever imagined I could.
Love is Hard Work But Certainly Worth the Adventure
After the initial butterflies of love have faded away, couples come to realise that relationships are spelled W-O-R-K. While love is the most rewarding gift that any individual can give or receive in their lifetime, keeping the fires of love stoked takes creativity, self-sacrifice and patience. There are a few key ground rules that you must stick to if you hope to have a life of love with your soul mate. First, you must never try to manipulate your partner into changing. Second, you must try to give more than you receive. Third, you must stay positive and thankful instead of getting negative.
Change
We are all changing constantly throughout our lifetime. Life lessons mature us and although our basic disposition tends to stay the same, we all look very different in the end of our lives than we did at the beginning. However, change has to come from the inside and one of the fastest tickets to an unhappy relationship is trying to manipulate your spouse or dating partner to change into the man or woman you want by your side.
Take a close look at your partner before you marry them. They have quirks, irritating habits, strengths and weaknesses. Decide if you can love the person for who they are from the outset. If you feel that you can only love them fully when they change, beware. Starting a relationship out in the hopes of moulding your spouse or dating partner into what you want will only leave both of you hurt and dissatisfied. Accept your spouse or dating partner as they are, or move on to someone that fits you better.
Give
Some people only think about what they can get out of a love relationship and they find themselves consistently dissatisfied. This is because love is meant to be given away, not only received. Instead of trying to get more love out of your partner, focus your attention on the many different ways that you can give love.
Whether it is through verbal affirmations, physical touch, practical service or any other expression, seek to pour love into your partner every single day. You will find that over time, all of the love you have given away will return to you in even greater measure.
Positivism
Even in the greatest earthly love relationships, nothing is perfect. For this reason, it is imperative that you train yourself to stay on the positive side of life in order to enjoy your relationship to the full. Love looks gratefully at the good things your spouse or dating partner has done, on purpose.
What you dwell on is what you will get more of in your life. For this reason, it is important that you dwell on the positive interactions you have had in your relationship. This proactive dwelling on positive moments will position you to experience more healthy exchanges in your relationship. Conversely, grumbling and complaining about your spouse or dating partner will only give you a negative air about you that will inevitably manifest itself in more negative exchanges.
